Welcome to the Kaethe-Kruse-Doll-Museum
Kaethe Kruse... the name doesn't only thrill chridren's hearts. The Kaethe Kruse Doll Museum in Donauwoerths former Capuchin monastery has become a magnet for doll fans from all over the world. In the museum, you will see more than 150 valuable handmade dolls created between 1912 and the present, more than 50 toy soldiers als well as life-size manneqins. The dolls by Kaethe Kruse and Hanne Adler-Kruse are exhibited in charming arrangements.
Kaethe Kruse (1883-1968), the world famous German doll artist, started her doll production in Berlin. Later she moved to Bad Koesen / Saale and, after the Second World War, to Donauwoerth. Even today, these dolls, who really meet children’s needs, are still made in the Bavarian-Swabian town of Donauwoerth. In addition to these valuable collector’s dolls, rare photographs and information boards tell the story of Kaethe Kruse, her husband Max Kruse (the famous sculptor) and her children, who are German legends. Another part of the exhibition is dedicated to the company’s history and the production of Kaethe Kruse dolls. Books, postcards, toys and souvenirs related to the dolls are on sale in the museum.
